They kept the original automatic transmission. The current setup is producing 290 horsepower to the wheels and was able to set an all motor drag record.<\/p>\n<p>The engine had the heads port and polished, intake ports matched, valves lapped, and combustion chambers polished. Intake manifold was ported\/polished and mated to a smoothed out throttle body. Also several components were used from VQ35HR such as head gaskets, valve springs, and head bolts.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nwpengineering.com\/forum\/VQ35Swap\/VQ35-Swap-92-Maxima-Engine-Bay-2.jpg?w=1200\" alt=\"VQ35DE in a 1992 Maxima\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The power was put to the ground via some Mickey Thompson ET drag slicks on 15&#215;8 Rota Slipstream wheels.<\/p>\n<p>Weight was shaved by using a racing seat and removing bumper supports, sound deadening, carpet, spare tire, jack, 14 lb battery, muffler, AC, and alternator. The Maxima weighs 2600 lbs with driver.<\/p>\n<p>The best 1\/4 mile so far is a 12.058 @ 114.52 mph w\/ 1.904 60&#8242; at Coastal Plains Dragway in Jacksonville, NC on 4\/9\/10 using 20&#8243; Slicks.
