This 1992 Ferrari F40 race car has an interesting history. What we can determine from the car’s Iconic Auctioneers’ listing<\/a> and Simpson Motorsport’s website<\/a>, it started in 1996 when Ferrari offered Stefano Sebastiani a post crash-test F40 chassis. He then tasked Simpson Motorsport with rebuilding it for endurance racing. The company reinforced the chassis, installed a FIA-spec roll cage, and custom F40 GTE-style composite body. Then in 2001 Simpson Motorsport swapped a naturally aspirated F133 V12<\/a> from a Ferrari 550 Maranello. In 2005 the car received a Hewland six-speed sequential transaxle. The auction listing also states the car also has a custom suspension and 18×11-inch front wheels and 18×12.5-inch rear. No word on the type of brakes. The race car competed in 11 events from 2002-2006 before being placed in storage. Iconic Auctioneers<\/a> will be selling the car on August 23, 2024 at Silverstone Circuit.<\/p>\n
