What we can determine from the car&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iconicauctioneers.com\/1992-ferrari-v12-rec13728-1-silverston-0824\">Iconic Auctioneers&#8217; listing<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/simpsonmotorsport.com\/projects\/ferrari-f40-v12\/\">Simpson Motorsport&#8217;s website<\/a>, it started in 1996 when Ferrari offered Stefano Sebastiani a post crash-test F40 chassis. He then tasked Simpson Motorsport with rebuilding it for endurance racing. The company reinforced the chassis, installed a FIA-spec roll cage, and custom F40 GTE-style composite body. Then in 2001 Simpson Motorsport swapped a naturally aspirated <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ferrari_F116\/F133_engine\">F133 V12<\/a> from a Ferrari 550 Maranello. In 2005 the car received a Hewland six-speed sequential transaxle. The auction listing also states the car also has a custom suspension and 18&#215;11-inch front wheels and 18&#215;12.5-inch rear. No word on the type of brakes. The race car competed in 11 events from 2002-2006 before being placed in storage. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iconicauctioneers.com\/1992-ferrari-v12-rec13728-1-silverston-0824\">Iconic Auctioneers<\/a>
