Matthew restored the classic hatchback with help from <a href=\"https:\/\/motion-motorsport.co.uk\/\">Motion Motorsport<\/a>. The company rebuilt the 2.0 L 16v motor with 1 mm oversized JE pistons, Cat Cams forged rods, AT Power throttle bodies, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flspeedfab.com\">SpeedFab<\/a> custom spec manifold and exhaust. EFI Parts tuned the motor on an OMEX 600 ECU and made 193 hp (141 kW) with 11.3:1 compression. Power is sent to the front wheels through an 02A manual transmission and Quaife ATB limited-slip differential. The Golf&#8217;s suspension features AP coilovers, Mk2 front hubs, Wilwood four-piston front brakes, and Mk4 rear disc brakes. The body was dipped, repaired, tri-cationic (Zn\/Mn\/Ni) phosphate coated, PPG electrophoretic epoxy coated, and finally covered in VW Cashmere White paint.
