Rolls-Royce developed and built the engine and a variety of companies like <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Packard_V-1650_Merlin\">Packard licensed and built<\/a> their own <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Rolls-Royce_Merlin_variants\">variants<\/a>. The V12 engine had a displacement of 1,650 ci or 27.0 L and were used in a wide variety of aircraft and even found themselves <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rolls-Royce_Merlin_alternative_uses\">in tanks and boats<\/a>.
