Exomotive has been selling the lightweight Exocet chassis since 2013. The kit allows an amazing race car to be built around the Mazda Miata drivetrain. This also means a Exocet can use LSx drivetrains if the builder uses one of the popular Miata\/V8 swap kits.<\/p>\n

Flyin’ Miata was asked by a father and son team in cooperation with Exomotive to build them a very…very fast V8 powered Exocet. The engine they chose was a supercharged 6.2 L LSA crate engine used in the Cadillac CTS-V. The engine produces 556 horsepower and 551 ft-lb of torque. The rest of the drivetrain consists of a T-56 six-speed transmission with a SPEC clutch and a Cadillac CTS-V rear end (I think).<\/p>\n

Thanks to the weight of the Exocet chassis the car weighs around 1,900 lb. This gives it a 3.4 lb\/hp power-to-weight ratio. To give you and idea of how ridiculous a number that is, the Bugatti Veyron has a 4.16 lb\/hp power-to-weight ratio while the Pagani Zonda has a 3.93 lb\/hp power-to-weight ratio.<\/p>\n
