Some engine swap projects do all the necessary things to get the foreign engine to work and nothing more. Then there are projects like this 1967 VW Double Cab where the builder went above and beyond what was needed.<\/p>\n

The engine powering this VW is a 3.2 L Porsche 911 flat-six. This is the second 911 engine after the first one tried to destroy itself. The rest of the drivetrain components came from a Porsche 944 S2, such as the transaxle, front spindles, rear suspension, and four-piston Brembo brakes.<\/p>\n

There is a tremendous amount of metal and structural work. For example a custom dry sump system was built out of a Patterson tank that allows the system to run on any amount between 10 to 25 quarts. Going through the entire thread you appreciate the amount of work that goes into a project like this.<\/p>\n

Besides being driven regularly this VW also pulls double duty by hauling items during the week while also hauling at the track on weekends.<\/p>\n
