Bennie Kerkhof has owned his Honda Civic del Sol since 2011 and over that time he has gone from a few modifications to building a Honda fan’s new favorite car.<\/p>\n

The transformation started off with a few exhaust upgrades and then a cheap turbo kit. After falling in love with a turbocharged engine he built his own system with better parts and a Garrett GT3076R. Running on 8.7 psi of boost the engine produced 310 horsepower.<\/p>\n

Then Bennie decided to convert the car to rear-wheel drive by moving the entire drivetrain to the rear. In theory a FWD transversely mounted engine layout just needs everything moved to the rear but in practice it is not that simple since you are installing an engine into an area that the manufacture never intended an engine to go.<\/p>\n

After he finished converting the car to RWD he rebuild the B16A2 engine for more power. It was upgraded with Eagle rods, Wiseco pistons, balanced and polished crank, GSR cams, Buddyclub P1 valves, and plenty of other performance parts with the goal of producing 400-450 horsepower to the rear wheels. <\/p>\n
