The factory motor was replaced with a 1970 Cadillac Eldorado 500 ci V8 which produces 517 horsepower and at least 600 lb-ft of torque. Maximum Torque Specialties built the fully balanced engine with Bulldog aluminum heads, upgraded camshaft, and small bore. Power goes to the rear wheels through a Turbo-Hydramatic 425 three-speed automatic transaxle. The Targa body was chosen because the unibody provided more rigidity helping when sheet metal was removed to fit the large engine in the back.
