This Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII is being built by VTG in Warszawa, Poland who specialize in building AWD vehicles for drag racing. A lot of the drag racing in Europe takes place on unprepped surfaces such as old runways so they usually tend to be AWD. For this project they have completely gutted the Evo and installed a custom chassis and full roll cage. The 4G63T has been replaced with a LSx V8 with a Garrett GTX42 turbocharger. The AWD system consists of a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, modified GMC Syclone/Typhoon transfer case (BorgWarner 1372 or 4472) and modified GM diffs in front and rear.
Update 6/21/2016 – The Evo made 811.2 hp @ 6,014 rpm on the dyno at a low boost setting and went 9.21 sec in the quarter-mile its first time out. We can expect the time to lower and power to rise.

Diff looks like Trailblazer SS.ase looks like some flavor of Borg Warner 4472 like you would see in a GMC Syclone/Typhoon.
Great catch. Someone confirmed they are running an AWD system from a Syclone/Typhoon. Similar to the one they used in their C3 Corvette.
Front diff is definitely not Ty/Sy, like I said, it looks to me like a Trailblazer SS.
I apologize. I thought you were saying the rear diff looked like a Trailblazer SS. I have corrected the article to be very broad until I can confirm the exact components.
