This 1952 Buick Super Riviera is called “Bombshell Betty” and was built and driven by Jeff Brock. He finished work on it in 2009 and set out with a top speed of 130.838 mph. Then in its final year of competition reached a record speed of 165.735 mph. Between 2009 and 2013 Jeff set six Land Speed world records with his creation. Then in 2014 he moved on to another project and sold the car to photographer Peter Lik. The car is currently for sale with an asking price of $195,000 OBO.
Under the hood Jeff installed a 320 ci (5.2 L) inline-eight sourced from a 1950 Buick Roadmaster that has been bored .20 over for a total of 324 ci. The engine was upgraded with Arias 11:1 pistons, solid lifter cam, Oldsmobile racing harmonic balancer, custom intake with a pair of two-barrel carburetors. All this is good for 340 horsepower. Behind the engine sits a Borg Warner T-10 four-speed manual transmission and 9″ rear end with 2.73 gears. The front suspension has been sourced from a 1968 Chevy Van with a dropped axle narrowed to 11″ and solid mounted. The rear suspension was taken from a 1973 Ford Thunderbird.

I love the hot rod look with aero function and the fact that it’s running a Buick straight eight. At least it’s not another LSx or something ho-hum like that.
Interesting. Car looks like something from a Mad Max movie. Pretty cool, especially the engine, not often you hear about straight eight swaps.
