BMW E30 with a Turbo Honda L15

BMW E30 with a turbocharged Honda L15 inline-four

In 2020 TF-Works swapped a naturally aspirated 2.4 L Honda K24 inline-four into their 1987 BMW 325is (E30) using their swap kit. The swap gave the classic coupe 212 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque with Honda dependability. In 2023 the company wanted to go in a different direction. They swapped the K24 for a turbocharged 1.5 L Honda L15B7 inline-four from a Civic Si paired with a Miata (ND2) six-speed manual transmission. The motor features an aluminum block with cast-in iron liners, lightweight steel rods, twin oil-squirters, direct injection, single-scroll turbocharger, and electric wastegate. TF-Works explains why they chose the L15B7 here.

  1. I knew it was going to happen one day, that someone would put these engines in a rear wheel drive car. Question was when.
