Renegade Hybrids is known for their V8 powered Porsche projects but they recently branched out to build a V8 powered Lotus. This Turbo Esprit is powered by an E-Rod 6.2 L LS3 crate engine that produces 430 horsepower. Much more power than the 215 hp the factory 2.2 L inline-four produced. Which also means the factory transaxle has been replaced with a Porsche model to handle the extra power. If you’re interested in also having some pushrod goodness in your Lotus then you are in luck because Renegade Hybrids is working on sells an Esprit swap kit.

Not that this isn’t completely awesome, but I wonder if a Ford Ecoboost wouldn’t be a better transplant candidate.
hell yeah!!
LS…. Cheap and reliable
The car in question doesn’t appear to be S2 Esprit, it looks to be a Turbo Esprit (lots of body differences both internally and externally, in which case the starting point of the power was 210BHP from the 2.2l
I don’t know how I missed it but the first image shows the decal that says “Turbo Esprit”. Thank you Andy.
Turbo not required my friends
Power to weight = one hella nice piece of recycled masterpiece for all yall new car buyers !
With a Boxter 6 speed, and porsche turbo axles to handle the increased torque from the all aluminum 6.2 L lump. 18″ BBS LM’s w/ Michelin mxv’s, Wildwood brakes to slow it down.
In California the all aluminum e-rod LS-3 is smog legal, the only way to go. Swap Only added about 100-200 pounds over the stock lotus turbo engine, and Citroen Maserati SM transmission.
430 hp, 2400 pounds.
I have a 1995 lotus s4 turbo and I need this done but im in texas//….
