This 1950 Mercury is owned by John Shope, founder of Dirty Bird Concepts in Scottsdale, Arizona. The body was chopped and channeled by the famous customizer George Barris and has 1959 Cadillac tail lights. Power comes from a twin-turbo 5.7 L LS1 V8 that produces 600 horsepower. Behind that sits a GM four-speed automatic transmission. The car rides on an air suspension with a Camaro IFS subframe and 4-link rear.

  1. I’m just curious, are 1950 Mercs only built with Chevy motors? Because I’ve seen lots of articles about 1950 Merc hot rods and all of them had either small block Chevy, big block Chevy or like in this case an LS.
