This 1966 Chevrolet Corvair was built by Windell Gustama from Rapid Auto Solutions. The car is no longer powered by an air-cooled flat-six. Windell swapped a 5.3 L LS4 V8 from a 2007 Chevrolet Impala sitting on a custom rear subframe. The all-aluminum motor features a Comp Stage 2 camshaft, 243 heads, and 2012 6.0 L truck flex fuel injectors. A reprogrammed 2007 Corvette ECU controls the motor. Exhaust is routed through LS9 headers to custom 3-inch stainless steel tubing. An adapter plate from Kit Car Chassis allows the V8 to bolt to a Porsche 996 six-speed manual transaxle with a 3.54 ratio. Windell modified the Corvair’s front control arms to use 1967 Camaro 2-inch drop spindles. He also converted the manual steering system to electric. Braking is handled by a set of 2016 Camaro SS Brembo four-piston calipers with 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Those are covered by 19×9-inch front wheels and 19×10-inch rear wheels.

Big dawg 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Love the radiator setup! No holes in the front really adds to the sleeper look. But how’s the cooling?
The cooling is great with the AC on. It never goes above 200° at a stand still on highway speeds it reaches about 212 doing probably like 80 miles an hour
Where does the hot air leave the front trunk and where is the fan? I am also interested in the weight distribution. Very nice sleeper.
Love it – what is the f/r weight distribution?
Exciting ride. Built 3 with mid engine V8”s. Also built a Manta, and a Kelmark GT. Still retain a Kelmark GT with a mid engine V8. How much for that one? Corvair was a fun car to drive.
