Building a Mercedes C 230 with a Turbo VR6

Mercedes C 230 with a Turbo VR6

A team of enthusiasts in Central Florida are installing a VW VR6 into a 2002 Mercedes C 230 Kompressor. The project started when the factory 2.3 M111 inline-four overheated and damaged the cylinder head. So far the owner has converted the oil pan to a rear sump and made a prototype adapter plate out of wood to connect the VR6 to a Mercedes 716.668 six-speed manual transmission. Follow the project’s progress in the build thread.

  1. There was a limited C32 coupe, so the AMG 3.2L fits. The only question is about the manual working right with the AMG computer. This was something RennSport was exploring.

  2. Hey man I hope you see my comment because a fellow vr6 brother need help. I am currently swapping a Mazda rx7 fc turbo 2 with a vr6 and I’m having huge issue with crossmember and steering rack. I need to figure out where I can buy a pan just like yours and how did you managed to make the oil pump fit??

    Thank you!
