Honda J-series V6 Miata Swap Kit

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to a V8 swap in your Miata you may want to consider a Honda J-series V6. Mini Tec sells a JV6 swap kit for $3,500 that will allow you to swap any 1999-2007 Honda J engine to any NA or NB Miata (1990-2005). Although the 3.2 L from a 2003 Acura CL Type-S with a manual transmission is probably the best option since you can use the stock ECU. The beauty of this kit is only needing to replace the engine. Mini Tec supplies you with everything you need in the kit and the transmission, driveshaft, diff, and radiator remains stock.

  1. Really interest in your Honda J Series to Miata swap kits. Would you mind listing what items are included in the kits. I’ve watched several videos about that have peaked my interest but I’m unable to identify exactly what comes in the kit.

    Thanks,
    Ken

  2. If I swapped my na Miata trans (5 speed manual) with a nb ( 6 speed manual) transmission, will the engine swap still work?

  3. I’d like to ask if I can order the kit with an adapter plate to a different transmission? Preferably a Tremec t5 or t56 or cd009 or something that will hold more power

  4. What transmission are recommended to replace the 5 speed manual in the NA versions. Those are known to not do well over 250 hp so if I did this swap I would want to update my transmission soon, as well.

  5. Are there any single kits that have all the parts needed for a stock NB LS 2003 Miata? Also, can I swap the Honda J engine without needing to replace the wiring harness?

    1. Hi Sullivan. MiniTec’s installation manual says the kit uses motors from the 2001-2003 Acura CL Type S or 2002-2004 Honda Odyssey. We recommend contacting them directly to inquire if other engine years will work.
