Misfit Autowerks recently started a new project involving a Toyota AE86 owned by their suspension specialist Mike Barton. Mike purchased the car nine years ago with a Blacktop 20v 4A-GE that was sourced from a JDM AE111 Corolla. During that time Mike used it for Auto-X and road course racing but recently had an itch for more power. After reviewing several engine options the team decided to go with a 4.5 L VH45DE V8 out of a 1996 Infiniti Q4. The reasons being that one fell into their procession and the other being their experience working with the VH45DE. The engine will be connected to a Nissan FS5R30A five-speed transmission via a VH Power adapter. But due to the extra effort it took to use the VH Power adapter, Misfit Autowerks said they would use a Mazworx adapter if they ever did this combo again. You can follow along with the build process on the project’s build blog

Thanks for showing the shop a little love!
No problem. Thanks for working on such a nice project. I am following the work and will write at least another one when it is completed.
Thank you again! We’re a small shop trying to grow ourselves through unique projects and affordable work. Every little bit of publicity we get helps and we always reciprocate by posting about it!
I understand and thanks for sharing the article.
Thank you for posting the build. It means a lot to me and the shop.
You’re welcome. It will be a great project when completed. Can’t wait to see it running.
