Werner Appelgryn’s VW Amarok originally came with a turbocharged 2.0 L TDI inline-four, manual transmission, and 4WD drivetrain. Werner wanted more power so he swapped a 3.0 L M57 turbodiesel inline-six from a BMW 330d. These typically produce 228 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. Cars.co.za reports Werner’s M57 is making 382 hp and 925 Nm (682 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels thanks to a few upgrades and a hybrid turbocharger. Werner also swapped the manual transmission for a BMW automatic transmission. This change converted the truck to rear-wheel drive. Werner is considering converting it back to 4WD using a BMW X5 transmission.

Any point in this particular build or just because it can be done?
probably because he blew the original engine. They are terrible in brazil, the heads crack in the middle.
They swapped for the v6 tdi with 285 hp, but the problem persists. There are specialized companies that swap the 2.8 mwm for reliability.
