Mikko Kataja from VHT Racing competes in hillclimb racing with his special Toyota Starlet. The car was previously powered by a 4A-GE inline-four. Then last year Mikko swapped to a 2.6 L RPA V8 created by Radical Precision Engineering (RPE). He completed several races and learning a lot about the unique engine. Mikko recently upgraded to RPE’s next-generation 2.7 L RPX V8. This engine features a 65 mm stroke, 81 mm bore, flat-plane crankshaft, Cosworth pistons, VHT Racing-spec Catcams camshafts, and J.Kosunen-ported Hayabusa heads. Listen to the amazing sound of the RPX on the dyno below. Mikko did not list the engine’s exact output but stated it achieved his goal of 150hp/L which would be 405 hp.
