Larry Chen interviewed Joey Mepokee about his unique 1979 Toyota Cressida wagon (RX35) at the Retro Havok event in Malaysia. Joey says the Cressida originally came with a 2.0 L 18R-U inline-four and three-speed automatic transmission. After driving it he realized it needed something different. So he swapped a 5.0 L 1GZ-FE V12 from a Toyota Century. The motor features a modified intake with a single throttle body from a 3UR-FE V8 and a FuelTech FT550 ECU. Behind that is a modified bellhousing on a Toyota R155 manual transmission and Hilux rear end. Joey also swapped the front suspension for a Nissan S13 front subframe and suspension with JIC coilovers. The rear suspension retains the leaf springs with QA1 shocks.
