Toyota Starlet with a Turbo Honda F22C

Toyota Starlet with a turbocharged Honda F22 inline-four

Danny Mendez owns a unique 1981 Toyota Starlet. The car was powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0 L F22C1 inline-four from a Honda S2000. Making 240 hp (176 kW) was not enough for Danny. So he added a Pulsar turbocharger and the motor now makes 400 hp (294 kW) to the wheels on 18 psi (1.2 bar) of boost. The drivetrain features a S2000 six-speed manual transmission, shortened Ford Explorer driveshaft, and AE86 Corolla rear differential. Listen to David Patterson review the car while driving it.
