Custom VW Thing with a Nissan GTR Chassis and Powertrain

Several years ago a fire damaged a 2013 Nissan GTR owned by Tim Schmidt. Instead of scrapping the car, Tim sent it to Stony Smith at Oddball Kustoms to create something unique. Stony removed the GTR body and shortened the floorpan by 13 inches. Over that he installed a 1974 Volkswagen Thing body. To combine the two, Stony fabricated a new front and several panels, widen the fenders, extend the lower body, moved the B-pillar rearward, and converted to two-door. Now the custom two-door convertible is powered by a twin-turbo VR38 V6 and AWD drivetrain. Watch all of Stony’s amazing work in the build series.
