Black Smoke Racing and their their Mercedes S123 attended Gatebil to prove their namesake. Snooken Recordings recorded the team putting on a show drifting the custom wagon. Black Smoke Racing built the wagon with a turbocharged 3.2 L Mercedes OM613/OM648 diesel inline-six capable of 800 hp (596 kW) and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) of torque of 4 bar (58 psi) of boost. The motor uses forged internals, S&S Diesel injectors, Peterson dry sump, Autoverdi oil pump, and Turbosmart TS1 7880 turbocharger. The motor is paired to a DMA Racing Gears five-speed sequential transmission and a Bulldog quick-change rear end. Black Smoke Racing documented the project’s progress in their build series.
