Tamás Tomcsányi and his special Lada VAZ-2101 have come a long way since we first shared the project in 2018. Back then the little car was powered by a naturally aspirated 1.6 L inline-four from a Lada Niva producing 180 hp (132 kW). Tamás eventually upgraded to a turbocharged 1.9 L BMW M44 inline-four. In 2024 the motor produced 340 hp (250 kW) but HillClimb Monsters states it’s now producing 420 hp (308 kW) and 550 Nm (405 lb-ft). Behind the motor is a six-speed sequential transmission. Watch Tamás pilot the car at the HillClimb Monsters event at Skradin, Croatia.
