When this 1990 GMC K2500 4×4 came to TDI Swap Shop with a blown 350 ci V8, there was only one choice. They swapped the small-block V8 for a 1.9 L VW TDI (ALH) turbodiesel inline-four. The diesel motor features 250 lb injectors, head studs, GTC1549 turbocharger with electronic actuator, and front-mounted intercooler. The conversion retained the factory fuel pump in the 34 gallon tank. Behind the motor is a TD Conversions adapter plate which allows it to use the factory SM465 4-speed manual transmission and rear end. If you are interested in repowering your GMC truck with a VW 1.9 TDI, listen to what it takes in the videos below.
