Motus V4 Powered Boat

Rogue Propulsion surface drive boat with a Motus V4

Rogue Propulsion in Larose, Louisiana is developing a surface drive system they call “Black Widow” using a 1650 cc Motus MSTR V4. The small engine produces 180 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque and at 4,200 rpm it propels the boat at 47 mph.

  1. Lots of cool boats in that neck of the woods.
Seen mudboats with rotary Mazdas, Subarus, SBCs, and airboats with nitroused BBCs and soap injection (wildlife and fisheries used that beast).
I used to go to Larose every week, back in the early to mid 90’s

  2. Thanks for the great information you posted about our project. I just wanted to mention to you that we are actually using the Motus MSTR engine to build this project which delivers 180 hp and 126 ft-lb of torque, not the 165 hp variant.

    1. Are these Motus engine conversions actually available? Could I mount one on a 20′ pontoon boat for shallow water use? Have you done one with a system to raise and lower the motor a few inches for both shallow and deeper water use?
