BMW Z4 with a LS3 V8

BMW Z4 with a LS3 V8

When VAD Design wanted more power in their BMW Z4 (E89) project they sent it to Craig Taylor at DynoTorque in Birmingham, England. While there Craig replaced the factory 2.5 L N52B25 inline-six making 201 horsepower with a 6.2 L LS3 V8 making 500 horsepower running on an Emerald ECU. Other upgrades to the Z4 include custom stainless exhaust, Bilstein coilovers, Aspect GT carbon fiber GT3 body kit, and AG factory wheels (10.5×19,13×19).

  1. Why put a Chevy in it. BMW made a super charged v8 in a m3 that was just plainly nasty. If you want the ls3 drive a corvette or put it in a Chevy roller. Was hoping to get out off the time when a Chevy engine put in everything. And a friend has a tuned zr4 that was a factory super charged six that eats corvettes and challengers. If you bring a hellcat you better pray for long strait roads.

    1. The Chevy LS engines are easily acquired and you can source used ones for pretty cheap (can’t say the about BMW M series motors).

    2. bcuz Z4 are so good it won many races despite underpowered compared to it’s opponents. With the help of the Chevy LS, lightweight, powerful, more lowered+centrally balanced weight…it’s on steroids

  2. I agree. Would have been amazing without the Vin Diesel flares and diffuser in the front… The sad thing is it was adults who put it together.

  3. To all the D bags and R tards who probably drive a stick civic or sunfire. This is in fact a perfect track weapon. A well built LS in NOT a miata but a BMW? This is the 21st century shelby roadster concept perfected. German ride quality with american torque. Even a jetta rides better than most american cars. But hey, im only someone on the internet. Amazing build.

  4. Got to be my all time favourite GT3 monster, great work in recreating it. I fully understand using the LS3, considering the “proper” P65 BMW motor was a 9500rpm pure race engine (that sounds like nothing else I’ve heard) and runs in at over £95k if you can find one!!! oh and the rebuilds every 10k miles… – quick question though, would an LT4 fit in there?
    -great build-
