We stumbled across this eBay auction from over a year ago while researching for another article. The auction was for a 1936 Nash Lafayette with just about everything under the body taken from the Toyota/Lexus parts bin. The drivetrain is sourced from a third-generation Toyota Soarer that includes a 2.5 L twin-turbo 1JZ-GTE, automatic transmission, and a Torsen differential with 4.08 gearing. The classic body sits a custom frame that allows the car to use front and rear independent suspension parts from a third-generation Supra and Lexus models. This is a great project and I hope it resurfaces.

My ability to assimilate Hot Rods is very limited, but the more I see using Toyota parts is piquing an interest that I wasn’t even aware of…..
I just had the opportunity to talk with the current owner of this car. It’s now flat black (almost rhino liner like) but the rest of it is still the same. Super cool to see that it’s a totally custom chassis with JZZ30 drivetrain, steering, and suspension. Still starts right up just like that 1JZ should.
He’s in Georgia and is looking to sell it soon too, so if anyone is interested in this definitely keep an eye out in the Marietta/Kennesaw/Acworth area in Georgia.
Hi Riley. Thank you for the update. It is great to hear the car is still around. Hope it finds a great new home.
