This 1976 Chevy Cosworth Vega is for sale on Craigslist near Chapel Hill, North Carolina for $9,999. The car is powered by a 2.4 L Ecotec inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The owner states a new driveshaft sends power to a 10-bolt rear end with a limited-slip differential and 3.42 gears. Other features include Jet-Hot coated exhaust system, 10-inch front disc brakes, drum rear brakes, VDO gauges, and Michelin 15-inch tires.

  1. I can’t believe they went through all that trouble to swap in a 2.4 with 182 hp when they could have done the Ecotec 2.0 turbo with 260 hp. The turbo version can easily be tuned to 300+ hp.

    Imagine a 400hp turbo Cosworth Vega!!!

    1. Probably better predictability on the 2.4, Turbos add a bit of unknown, especially at that kind of power level. I bet this is a very fun car to drive especially at the price

      Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe the engine exploded or something but I really hope nobody pulled out the original engine to put this in it. There would be two reasons to like a Vega, it has the cosworth engine or you bought one that had already been turned into a drag car at which they did a good job of.

  2. I can’t believe you guys think ad Orrin sleeve is better than silicone. My ‘74 that I bought new ran on the stock block for 170,000 miles in 11 yrs. A valve job at 80,000 showed no cyl ridge at all. An Iron Block would have a big one.
