1973 Plymouth Road Runner with a Cummins V8

Dirt Every Day 1973 Plymouth Road Runner with a Cummins V8

When we last covered this build Fred and Dave from Dirt Every Day had just started taking on turning a tired 1973 Plymouth Road Runner into a serious 4×4 diesel muscle car. Since then the guys finished the project and debuted it at SEMA 2015. The Road Runner gets its power from a brand new Cummins ISV 5.0 L V8 turbo diesel crate engine that is the same found in the Nissan Titan truck. In factory trim the engine produces 275 horsepower and 565 lb-ft of torque. To keep the engine fed the guys installed a 50 gallon fuel tank right behind the seats. Torque from the engine travels through an Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission into an Off-road Design NP205 transfer case and out to a Currie Dana 60 with a Detroit Locker in the front and Dynatrac Dana 80 with a ARB Air Locker in the rear. Watch as Fred and Dave take their wild creation through several post-apocalyptic tests.
