LS9 Powered Widebody 1969 Camaro

Widebody 1969 Camaro with a LS9 V8

When completed this will be one really unique 1969 Camaro. Under the hood will be GM’s supercharged LS9 crate engine and a custom built Viper based T-56 transmission. The frame will consist of an Art Morrison subframe and a custom built rear frame that will be built to handle 1,000 horsepower. A Detroit Speed & Engineering Quadralink rear end will be used to hold the power to the ground. The body will be widened five inches (2.5″ on each side) to accommodate Forgeline 18×10 up front, 19×14 in the rear and six piston Baer brakes all around. As far as I can tell I think this will be the first full widebody 1st Generation Camaro ever. The exhaust will be sent through the frame and out the sides before the rear tires.

    1. I forgot you were asking about a Firebird. A lot will depend on the fabrication shop and the exact look you are going for. Fabricating a “wide body” can be done several ways that will all result in a different appearance. It will be better to ask a top metal fabrication shop near you after describing the exact look you want.

      1. I believe you’re right. I just wonder how much money they ripped off from the owner. I worked in that shop while this Camaro was there, and was witness to a lot of blatant, outright fraud being committed against many of the shop’s customers and employees. I hope at least some of the people who were ripped off were able to get even before Smoky Hill went under several years ago.
