Fat Fender Garage specializes in classic Ford and Chevy truck parts and builds. They recently debuted a 1971 Ford F-100 project called “Vin” at the Grand National Roadster Show where it took 1st place in the Street Touring Pickup category.
The heart of the truck is a second-generation 5.0 L Coyote V8 boosted by a Whipple supercharger. The combo produces 571 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. Behind that is a 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission and full-floating 9-inch rear end.
Fat Fender Garage wanted modern handling to match the engine’s output. So they went with a Porterbuilt Level 2 chassis exclusive to their company. It features Falcon coilover suspension and Wilwood drilled/slotted disc brakes. Covering those are a set of Avant Garde 20-inch wheels.
On the inside Fat Fender Garage installed Apex “Prison Break” and “Broken Bone” leather. They covered the floor in Apex “Ultra Charcoal” carpet. A Flaming River steering column holds a Sparc billet steering wheel. Behind that is a leather cover dash with Dakota Digital gauges and vents blowing cold air from a Restomod AC system.
