Eric Hux from Hux Racing built his 1993 Toyota MR2 for drag racing. In 2022 the car was powered by a 2.5 L Honda “K24-K400” inline-four built by 4Piston Racing and Toyota E153 five-speed transmission. The K24 motor made 337 hp and 219 lb-ft of torque on E90 fuel. Last year Eric swapped the inline-four for a naturally aspirated 3.5 L Toyota 2GR V6. The motor features factory longblock, factory camshafts, ATS valve springs, custom longtube headers, ID1300x injectors, and custom Hux Racing mounts. The V6 produced 313 hp (233 kW) and 270 lb-ft (366 Nm) of torque to the wheels on 93 octane. The motor is still paired to the E153 transmission with a twin-plate clutch. We’re looking forward to Eric developing the 2GR for more power.
