Matthew Farrell bought this 1983 Volkswagen Golf GTi with a 2.0L 16v (ABF) inline-four. Matthew restored the classic hatchback with help from Motion Motorsport. The company rebuilt the 2.0 L 16v motor with 1 mm oversized JE pistons, Cat Cams forged rods, AT Power throttle bodies, and SpeedFab custom spec manifold and exhaust. EFI Parts tuned the motor on an OMEX 600 ECU and made 193 hp (141 kW) with 11.3:1 compression. Power is sent to the front wheels through an 02A manual transmission and Quaife ATB limited-slip differential. The Golf’s suspension features AP coilovers, Mk2 front hubs, Wilwood four-piston front brakes, and Mk4 rear disc brakes. The body was dipped, repaired, tri-cationic (Zn/Mn/Ni) phosphate coated, PPG electrophoretic epoxy coated, and finally covered in VW Cashmere White paint.
