HotRod.com has a good 9 page overview of swapping a Chevy, Ford, or Chrysler engine into older cars. This is in no way a step-by-step guide but it offers a good overview and tips for someone thinking of swapping an engine into another car. It also goes into giving suggestions as to which older cars the engine goes into easier and listing some aftermarket products which will help with the swap.
I have a “97” Anniversery Edition Merc. Cougar. The v6 is blown. I would like to replace it with a ford V8. Any info ????
First off this is not the most popular car for swaps. So although it is not impossible, you are going to find a harder time getting tips and info.
You could go with the 2 valve 4.6L. This was an option for the 97 Cougar. Or you could go the 4 valve version of the 4.6L. You can mod these engines and they can turn out impressive numbers.
