The BMW E39 series came with very wide variety of engines. There were 14 different inline-six and five different V8 engines that found their way into the E39 chassis. This 1999 BMW 525it wagon was a custom order from BMW with Mojave metallic brown paint. The owner removed the stock motor, transmission and suspension for something else.
The engine was swapped for a 427 ci (7.0L) LSX V8 which consists of an iron block with LS7 internals and will make around 600 horsepower. The engine and transmission mounts were purchased from a forum member. The transmission is a Tremec Magnum XL which is a TR6060 model with a T-56 tail section added. The rest of the drivetrain consists of a BMW M5 2-piece driveshaft with GM slip yoke and M5 differential with a gear ratio changed from the factory 3.15 to a 3.62 from a BMW E46 M3.
The build gallery is fantastic and has 586 beautiful photos at the time of writing.
