It’s been three months since we last shared Todd Budde’s 1993 Mazda RX-7 project being built at his company FabFitters in Vernia, Texas. Since then he’s been working on finishing the project in time for a SEMA 2019 debut. Behind the Mazda RX-3 front sits a twin-turbo all-aluminum 26B four-rotor with a dry sump system. The goal is to make around 900 horsepower thanks to twin Garrett G42-1200 turbochargers. Power is sent to all four wheels through a Lamborghini Gallardo transaxle. The car rides on Corvette C7 control arms and uprights with DSC adjustable coilovers and Wilwood six-piston brakes. View more photos of the build at @forcefedfab.

    1. Around 900 hp from a 4 rotor engine that would displace around 120-122 c.i. The original engine, the output shaft (one of only 3 moving part) turned at 7K RPM. The rotors turned at half that speed (3.5K RPM). 4 Rotors, dry sump and I’m sure using 2 cycle injected, low ash oil. That’s a low figure, the 900 HP.

  1. How is the turbo on the right of the engine routed (looking into the bay standing infront the vehicle) he ran the headers under the kegs or welded the exhaust ports shut on two of the plates?

  2. I miss my 1976 Rx-3 so much.
    This is a wonderful build. This is what Mazda’s Dreamers might have done if they could have continued the Rx-3 line
