The Dady Rat was built by Johnny Stauffer with the help of this son and two grandsons to be one amazing rat rod. The body and rear tires are from a five ton military truck which sit on an air suspension and hand-built custom chassis. The drivetrain consists of a 19.0 L Deutz 513 twin-turbo diesel V12, Allison automatic transmission, and a school bus rear end. You don’t see many projects with an air-cooled V12 that size capable of producing 1,400 ft-lb of torque. The project has 1,300+ hours in it.

Thank you for sharing. How did you come up with the idea for this project?
No plans ,had the engine and wanted to make it so I could move it around. My son Todd Stauffer made a sketch of how it would look with the tires and a cab witch I had. It went from that. Did not have any plans to show it. My first show we were going to just go to Park and observe . When we got close they stopped traffic and motioned to register, then they told me to park in the front row. I was surprised deeply to received one of the top awards .And we go on from here. Thanks for all the support. GOD bless!!!
Great story. Anywhere that goes it’s going to stop traffic and turn heads. Fantastic work.
