RWD 2007 Eclipse with a Mid-Engine V6

RWD 2007 Eclipse built by Speed Farm Performance with a Mid-Engine V6

James from Speed Farm Garage spent months converting a fourth-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse to rear-wheel drive. He achieved this by installing a 3.8 L 6G75 V6 and six-speed manual transmission in the back of the car. The powertrain sits on a factory front subframe surrounded by custom tubular supports. The factory engine bay holds a fuel cell along with the battery and stock ECU. James plans on installing coilovers and eventually a turbo system for a goal of 600 hp. Listen to James explain the project to Car-Addiction or follow the car’s progress in the build thread.

      1. An update, it’s still alive and well. The custom suspension went in it, it’s quite low and I’ve managed 1.45G at my local track on a set of skinny (225mm) worn summer tires. We’re also down in the 2600s for weight without ANY carbon fiber.

This year, we go for the 4G 1/4 mile ET record. Looking to beat the FI setups NA (we already have the FI trap record)
