I recently had a chance to talk to professional Norwegian drifter Stian Jacobsen about his newest project. Stian is currently building a rear-wheel drive 2016 Honda Civic hatchback. He says it is the world’s first and I have no evidence to say otherwise. Power will come from a Race Lab built Honda K24 which will initially produce around 600-700 horsepower. I say initially because Stian will eventually push the motor to produce 1,000 horsepower and 1,000 Nm (737.5 lb-ft) of torque for the 2017 season. This will give the car a ridiculous 1:1 power-to-weight ratio since the goal weight is 1,000 kg (2,204 lb). The rest of the powertrain consists of a Toyota R154 five-speed transmission and Mk4 Supra rear end. The Civic will also run a Nissan S14 front suspension which will allow for a big steering angle kit. There is still a lot of work left but I can’t wait to see this project completed and at the track.
